Aldershot Garrison Conservation Group
The group covers the whole of Aldershot Garrison and involves people who live and work in the area.
The Group has a chairman and a committee of experts in their own field, eg Botany, Ornithology, Deer and Mycology (Fungi). The aim of the group is to record what is presently a particularly endangered species, to monitor their state and to advise on management plans to protect valuable species which could be at risk from training or land developments. Expert advice is always on hand.
Direct links are maintained not only with the Defence Land Agent, as Land Manager, but also with Statutory Bodies such as English Nature, The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and the British Trust for Ornithology as well as local councils.
Membership is free, but members are expected to contribute in some way to their own discipline or interest by recording or just keeping an eye on their favourite areas.
Service personnel and their families are encouraged to participate in these groups where they have a keen interest in or specialist knowledge of their subject.
If you are interested in becoming a member, contact the Group Chairman Tel Mil: 94211 8357 or Civ: 01483 798357.
