Joint Service Housing Advice Office (JSHAO)

The MoD provides a housing service called the Joint Service Housing Advice Office (JSHAO). The role of the JSHAO is to provide civilian housing Information, advice and, where possible, placement to servicemen and women and their dependents and to ex-service personnel who are still occupying service accommodation.

The service was set up to provide service personnel and their families with information and advice on the range of civilian housing options. The service was established to provide a starting point for housing information and advice to all service personnel and their families about returning to civilian life.

The JSHAO service runs “Housing, the Options” briefings across the UK which are designed for Service personnel and their dependants who are looking to settle in the UK. There is more information, along with dates and locations of the briefings here.

The JSHAO also runs “Housing Solutions” briefings throughout the country to a wide range of service personnel on request. These briefings are designed to encourage service personnel to prepare for long term civilian housing while they are still in service. More information on the Housing Solutions briefings is available here.

The JSHAO team produce a monthly magazine called Housing Matters. Each edition focuses on a particular region of the UK and a unique housing issue. The latest edition is available to view here.
